On July 2023, The Embassy of the Lao PDR to the Republic of the Philippines held a seminar at the Residence of the Lao Ambassador to mark the 68^th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao Women Union (20 July 1955-20 July 2023). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Sonexay VANNAXAN, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to the Republic of the Philippines and attended by the Embassy personnel and the Lao students studying in the Philippines.

During the meeting, H.E. Sonexay VANNAXAY, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Republic of the Philippines reviewed the history of the Lao Women Union significantly contributed to the struggle for national liberation in the past as well as the national economic and social development at present. In addition, the Lao Women Union pay the crucial rule in the Lao Political affairs, including the Lao Executive Administration and Parliament. At present, more than 30% of officials working in various government sectors are women.
